Expand Your Soul (and Your Mind); Surprising Insights from Bollywood
If you have never experienced Bollywood movies, now is the time to get a whole new experience and perspective.
And if you have, you already know the deep soul touching moments these movies evoke and leave you thinking about for days.
I find they are such a breath of fresh air. Especially films like Secret Superstar, Dear Zindagi, Airlift, Dangal, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Saala Khadoos, Toilet (yes, they have a movie called toilet and it is a must watch by the way) and of course the epic films like Bajirao Mastani.
A lot of these movies are based on true events, rich cultural or strong values and are so much more than entertainment.
You can’t help but walk away from one of these movies and have parts of it stay with you over a few days or more.
I truly believe that in order for us to grow personally, we need to be open different points of view, other cultures and be reminded of universal deep values as a human race.
It is so nice to experience an opposite to Hollywood and break from the traditional sequels or the same movie being remade to death.
If you are looking for more richness in your movie watching, please do yourself a favor and take in a few of these movies.
Yes, if you don’t understand Hindi or Punjabi there are subtitles for you … and it’s awesome!
Find out who people like Shah Rukh Khan (see his Tedtalk on thoughts of humanity), Salman Khan, Aaamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra (you will already know her from the series Quantico), Kareen Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are.
So, for now, I am off and running and leave you with a wish…
May your life be as rich and spicy as a vindloo,
your chicken always be buttered,
your beef curried
and may your soul fire up like a tandoor offering you the naan and ghee of all your dreams and desires.
